Helena Vasques — Tides of Colour
For its autumn exhibition, Musée Lumen brings together thirty works by the Portuguese abstractionist Helena Vasques (1921–1998), including the recently restored triptych “Marés”.
Curated with the Vasques Foundation in Lisbon, the exhibition follows the artist from her early gouaches of the Azores to the large-format oils of her late Paris years. A reading room presents her notebooks, shown outside Portugal for the first time.
“Vasques painted the sea the way others wrote diaries: every day, and never the same way twice.”
The exhibition runs until 15 February. Guided visits every Saturday at 3pm, included in the admission price.
