“Second Sun” announced as the new garden commission

The garden commission for this year goes to the Berlin collective Ostlicht Kollectiv, whose suspended installation “Second Sun” will float above the birch grove from March to September.

The twelve-metre ring of slowly pulsing light responds to the movement of visitors below — the more people walk under it, the brighter it breathes. The collective describes it as “a small public sun for a small public garden”.

The garden remains free to access throughout the installation, as every year.
